Google AI Recreates Bored Ape NFTs in Fine Art Style

Google Cloud Neural Networks recently used its artificial intelligence (AI) software to produce nonfungible token (NFT) art.

All 10,000 Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs are transformed into machine-made works of art by AI. These works of art are in a form of abstract paintings, but upon closer inspection, the paintings bear resemblance to the ape from the iconic Yuga Labs collection.

The Artsy Monke project is what you get when you combine BAYC and the fine art aesthetic.

Artsy Monke makes use of the cutting-edge AI technology that has underwent years of refinement, as well as image diffusion techniques. All images were produced with the combined power of Google’s collaborative Notebook service Colab and cloud computing.

Besides reference images, Google’s AI can also use text descriptions to reimagine these NFTs. The resident AI artist CryptoGrims claimed that the BAYC NFTs were given to the AI as “a loose canvas within which to frame the generative art.”

After the first feeding of the image canvas, they started teaching the AI how to paint in 20 different art styles that they have shortlisted. Next, they ran multiple servers for weeks to get the most satisfactory results.

This 10,000-piece collection started at only 0.001 ETH, which at the time of sale is at $1.40 — unlike the commonly expensive BAYC NFTs. However, shortly after its listing on OpenSea, the collection quickly sold out.

The creators of Artsy Monke stated that the NFT can also be used as a token for holders to participate in its games and more. The project blockchain developer, Dan Hovey, hoped the NFT could bring more fun and profit to the token holders.
