Cryptocurrency trading platform Upbit has temporarily halted CRV deposits and withdrawals from the Curve Finance platform. The exchange said that the move was necessary after finding vulnerabilities in some CRV stablecoin pools. As a result of this change, the price of CRV token has been fluctuating widely, forcing Upbit to issue a warning to its users.
When a reentrancy vulnerability, one that allows money to be drained through ongoing contract calls, was discovered, the problems for the DeFi platform Curve Finance began. Vyper compiler versions 0.2.15, 0.2.16, and 0.3.0 were identified as being susceptible to the flaw. In response, Vyper urged projects using these versions to get in touch right once in case they were susceptible.
Millions of CRV tokens were stolen just before a white hat rescue attempt was launched to recover them. The theft has added further complexity to the problem and cast doubt on the safety of the CRV ecosystem.
